We are currently seeking a full-time Associate Field Geologist (40 hr. per week) position for our Parsippany, New Jersey office. The successful candidate should be self-motivated providing technical support for a wide range of projects including a variety of field investigations and remediation programs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collection and management of samples from a variety of environmental media (soil, air, groundwater, surface water, sediments, etc.).
  • Soil characterization and core logging.
  • Oversight of subcontractors in the field (e.g., drilling companies, subcontractors).
  • Document (plans, reports) preparation, including assisting with submittal requirements.
  • Working within deadlines and efficiently with streamlined and complex project teams.
  • Must be able to obtain medical clearance for field work at hazardous waste sites including lifting up to 40 lbs. and working for extended periods of time in the field, under hot or cold, humid, and wet conditions.
  • Must have a valid driver license and be able to pass the company DMV check to be a Tetra Tech-qualified driver of corporate/rental vehicles.
  • Ability to pass background check (as required for project work).
  • Willingness for overnight travel essential.

Requirements:

  • BS in geology, hydrogeology, soil science or another environmental science-related field.
  • 1-3 years of applicable field and environmental experience.
  • 40 hr. HAZWOPER training.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of various sizes and scope.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a project team.
  • Good communication and field documentation skills.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 35 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels. 
  • Availability to work extended field rotations (sometimes 10-12 days at a time).
