A Permitting Specialist’s role and responsibilities will be flexible and dependent on the experience, but could be expected to include the following:-
- Management and delivery of a wide variety of Environmental Permit applications, variations, transfers and surrenders;
- Advising clients on the implications for their business of legislation;.
- Providing the main point of contact with clients and building strong business relationships;
- Develop new streams of work with existing and new clients through focussed business development activities;
- Be the main point of contact for permit applications with the regulator; and
- Mentoring and developing the next generation of compliance professionals.
Work mainly office or home-based but may be required to work on site, or from other offices or clients' premises as required by the project. You may also be required to work away from home for periods of time.

- Verbal and written communication is professional, recorded and shared with team members and filed correctly for all to access;
- Uses sense, effort and innovation to ensure that the task is completed most efficiently;
- Seeks to understand and assist with the needs of all team projects and deliverables;
- Ability to mentor and develop junior members of staff;
- Maintains a good attitude towards health and safety; and
- Seeks to improve professional skills through continuing professional development.
Qualifications/Skills
- A degree in an Environmental Science or similar
- Demonstrable experience in an industrial or consultancy role.
Personal Qualities
- A strong track record in successfully delivering Environmental Permit applications and the associated documentation
- An extensive working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation;
- Team management experience;
- Excellent report writing, technical reviewing and communication skills;
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel;
- Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team;
- A proactive, flexible attitude and the ability to work under your own initiative;
- Strong communication skills; and
- Good organisation and prioritisation of workloads in demanding environment.
