Field Biologist – Portland, OR, Bothell, WA or Boise, ID

Responsibilities and Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology, botany, ecology, or general biology or equivalent degree preferred but not required; other enthusiastic workers are encouraged to apply.
• Previous field work in wildlife ecology, botany, or wetlands preferred.
• Be willing to adhere to all personal safety requirements associated with working in rural, isolated areas.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain for extended periods of time.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; experience driving 4WD vehicle in rough terrain preferred.
• Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and rugged terrain (e.g., extreme heat, high winds, all forms of precipitation).
• Able to accurately identify local avian species by sight and sound, and/or identify local botanical species of eastern Oregon/Washington and western Idaho.
• Must be able to work independently or in small crews while maintaining clear communication with Tetra Tech, Inc. staff.
• Self-motivated, respectful of others, positive, energetic, and ability to work and participate in a team environment.
• Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps or other map-based field data collection application a plus,
• Ability to be flexible in scheduling due to changing field conditions.
• Be able to pass a drug screening and safe driving record check.
• First Aid/CPR certification. Wilderness First Aid a plus.
• Candidate may be required to pass a hearing test to perform job duties.
• Successful candidates must be fully vaccinated for COVID 19.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 35 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
• Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels. 
• Availability to work extended field rotations (sometimes 10-12 days at a time).
