Our Midwest, Rockies and California Operations are seeking immediate opportunities for Environmental Planners & Project Managers in the Southwest Region to support growing our energy business, with specific emphasis on growing our engineering, siting, and permitting business. With decades of national experience, Tetra Tech offers a wealth of technical knowledge and a strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.

 

Successful candidates will have a strong technical background in siting, permitting, and evaluating environmental impacts of energy projects. Experience will include permitting, solar, wind, energy storage and transmission line siting and routing.

This opportunity can be Remote or Hybrid and located in Arizona, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, or Texas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking a team member with an established and successful history of managing and leading tasks associated with energy projects which includes assisting with developing proposals and cost estimates, executing project tasks, managing project budgets and forecasts, delivering client satisfaction, and mentoring staff.
  • Responsibilities include project management, team leadership and mentoring of junior staff.
  • This role will direct and oversee energy facility siting/routing, permitting, environmental field surveys, resource analysis, agency coordination, and public outreach, as well as budget and project tracking.
  • Candidates will work within a team to prepare conditional use, land use, right-of-way, and other local jurisdictional permitting efforts.
  • In addition to permitting, this role will include managing the preparation of resource studies (e.g., wildlife biology, wetlands, cultural resources) associated with energy project permitting, as well as the production of permit applications to state utility boards.
  • Represent clients before federal, state, and local regulatory and land management agencies, boards, planning commissions and councils.
  • Prepare project descriptions and summaries, respond to data requests, and make presentations to the governing jurisdiction’s representatives in public meetings in order to obtain approval for projects.
  • Our team member will have experience working with environmental, regulatory and land use agencies, such as: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), state agencies, and local county and city planning departments.
  • Candidates must be able to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team.
  • Candidates must be able to research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Engineering, or related degree.
  • 3 to 15+ years related consulting experience in a wide variety of areas ranging from leading and managing technical teams and project management.
  • Experience with the resources and regulatory agencies in Southwestern states.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

 

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.  $50,000 - $170,000
